ADX Trend Strength

Filters for strong trends: only buys when ADX confirms strength and +DI leads, sells when -DI takes over.

Entry Logic

Buy when ADX(14) >25 and +DI crosses above -DI — a strong uptrend is confirmed.

Exit Logic

Sell when +DI crosses below -DI — bearish dominance returns.

How Rules Combine

DX = 100×|DI+ - DI-|/(DI+ + DI-), ADX = Wilder average of DX. High ADX means strong trend regardless of direction; DI cross gives direction.

When It Works (Market Edge)

Avoiding sideways markets: requiring ADX >25 filters out ranges where breakouts fail.

When It Fails

Late trend entries: by the time ADX climbs above 25, the move may already be mature and near exhaustion.

Common Myths

Myth: High ADX means buy.

Truth: High ADX only means a strong trend exists; if -DI > +DI the trend is down, not up.
