Williams %R Reversion
Williams %R reversion: buys deeply oversold (-80) and sells overbought (-20), similar to stochastic but inverted.
Entry Logic
Buy when Williams %R(14) drops below -80 — the close is at the bottom of the 14-day range.
Exit Logic
Sell when %R rises above -20 — the close is near the top of the range.
How Rules Combine
%R = -100×(Highest High - Close)/(Highest High - Lowest Low). -100 is the lowest low, 0 is the highest high.
When It Works (Market Edge)
Ranging markets where price snaps back from range edges — %R flags washed-out levels well.
When It Fails
Persistent trends: %R hugs -100 in downtrends or 0 in uptrends, repeatedly flagging extremes that never reverse.
Common Myths
Myth: -80 means price must rise.
Truth: In strong selling, %R can stay below -80 for long stretches while price drifts lower.
